Steven Piffero is a native Californian who grew up in Salinas. He attended North Salinas High School, then Hartnell Junior College before transferring to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He graduated with a degree in Crops Science and a minor in History. He also earned his teaching credential in Agricultural Sciences.
He started his career as a teacher in Selma, California in 1976, where he taught Agriculture, then moved to Red Bluff in 1978 to teach agriculture. Soon after his arrival at Red Bluff High School, he transferred to the Social Science Department to teach numerous courses. Some of which included, Geography, Lands and Cultures, World History, California History, American Government and Economics. He currently teaches World Civilization and U.S. History.
In 1986 he took on the task of being the Red Bluff High School CSF Adviser. He worked with the students of Red Bluff High School for 10 years. He started out as a CSF State Board Member in 1989. He served as the CSF Vice-President North Region from 1989 until fall of 2007. Steven is currently serving his first of two years as CSF State President. He continues to work with local chapters in the north state advising advisers and working with CSF and CJSF students. He is currently serving his second term as a CTA State Council Representative for Tehama County.
Steven has been married to his wife, Catherine, for 30 wonderful years. Catherine is also a teacher. She teaches at Jackson Heights Elementary, where she teaches Kindergarten. Steven and Catherine have two children, a son Benjamin and a daughter Elizabeth. Steven’s hobbies include gardening, camping and hiking. He also enjoys visiting with his CSF and throughout the state.
