Areni volunteered to be president of CSF at Providence High School this year. Adviser Mrs Devon Boyd explains, "We work closely to make (CSF) a viable organization as it has languished in the past couple years. She attended the CSF fall conference and has taken the ideas she received and run with them." Areni uses the skills she has learned from being a Homenetmen Scout since the age of five. After organizing meaningful activities for 24 young girls, CSF must seem easy.
In 2006 Areni went to Armenia, visiting orphanages, volunteering and witnessing poverty. As a result she plans to major in political science at UCLA or Berkeley, then become a lawyer. She explains, "The greatest accomplishment in life is to make sure others around me get ahead in life as well. The success of one person in life will not have as big an impact in the society as would the success of the community as a whole."
