Passion is a word that appears frequently in the letters of recommendation and personal statement of Avneesh Kohli: passion for music, for computers, for education, and for sports. He is "a truly outstanding young musician and excellent trumpet player" according to the Los Angeles Pierce Symphonic Winds director Stephen Piazza. Avneesh describes his passion for engineering and computer science "My fascination for web design, programming, and robotics grew exponentially as I learned more about these subjects." Avneesh has founded and run two web-based businesses. Reseda High School CSF Adviser Ivna Gusmao writes that, as president, Avneesh led his school's CSF to increased membership, new service projects, and on-line scholarship bulletins. As a peer college counselor Avneesh worked to help other students overcome ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic barriers to a college education. He explains, "Giving people the opportunity to pursue their dreams is a goal we should all strive to accomplish."
