Isha Patel, 2012 Seymour Award Finalist
The current CSF President of her school's local chapter as well as serving a 10th and 11th grade Representative, Isha is a strong member exemplifying the motto "Scholarship for Service". She has organized many events including Christmas Caroling at a local hospital and volunteer events with the local senior center. She has volunteered at track meets, cleaned up local parks, and planted plants around school during Pride Day. She has participated with the Christmas Giving Tree, and Invisible Children, written letters and collected donations for the troops, and made holiday cards for hospital patients. Outside of CSF, Isha co-founded and has been the president of Involve USA a grassroots, civic - not political - movement with a mission to end the gridlock in the US Congress, President of the California Association of Student Councils Region 7, served as Interact Club Publicist where she has also been recognized for being the most active member,
Besides being a varsity tennis star since 9th grade and winning the California Interscholastic Federation-Southern Section award, Isha has also performed viola in the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and earned a Level 7 Certificate of Merit for Piano. She is an AP Scholar with Distinction, a Scholar Athlete and a member of the National Honor Society.
No better proof of this fact can be shown with her involvement with an orphanage in Southern India where because of her skills of networking and community fund-raising skills she has so far earned $2,500.00 to purchase new bunk beds, dining plates, utensils, school uniforms and musical instruments. Isha plans to attend UC Berkeley in the fall to study pre-law and pre-business.
