Not only is Jessica president of CSF Chapter 106 at Simi Valley High School, but when CSF lost its adviser in the middle of the first semester, she became the recruiter and "trainer" of new adviser Terrie Hamilton. Obviously this is a success story - the chapter's projects have included a clothing drive for the Salvation Army, Teacher Assistance, and a Book Drive. Like all of these Seymour Finalists, Jessica is very busy. Jessica explains that "sometimes 1 feel as if I am butter that has been spread infinitely thin across a piece of bread that is too large to cover completely." Still she continues "1 strive to do my best when serving another, whether I am tutoring, mentoring, or resolving conflict." Jessica has learned to think on her feet and communicate effectively. These skills will stand her in good stead at the University of San Diego where she plans to study international relations before going to medical school.
