Johnathan Daniel Simeroth, 2012 Seymour Award Winner
Johnathan feels that an application is a list of activities, which is supposed to give you an idea of what I am interested in, and how willing I am to serve my community. However, there is so much that never comes to mind when one scans over such a list. Every story has a background, and every person is a bit like an iceberg, whose first impression only represents the tip, a small portion, of who they are as a whole.
Johnathan's list of activities at Yuba City High School in Yuba City is impressive. He is not only a member of CSF, but on the wrestling and football teams, team leader for CHAOS (Christ Honored and Others Served)/Ground Zero Ministries, Jammin Club President, ASL (American Sign Language) Club member and DIG (Deeper into God) Vice President. Outside of school he volunteers to tutor, help at the hospital coffee shop, at local food drives, at Impact projects, as an ASL interpreter for deaf students at a summer camp, and with TIP (Trauma Intervention Program). His numerous awards and recognitions include the honor roll, Boys' State Delegate, and Horatio Alger Association Scholar.
Lou Binninger, Director of Trauma Intervention Program of Yuba/Sutter/South Butte Counties is impressed by Johnathan's commitment to the program. He states, Johnathan is teachable, loyal, compassionate, dependable, and works well with others. His personality, charisma, and learned skills enable him to work successfully with a variety of clients which is a valuable service in the darkest moments of their lives.
Johnathan hopes to double major in BioChemistry and Psychology at either Cal Poly San Luis Obispo or UC San Diego.
