Kelsey Chan, 2012 Seymour Award Finalist
Kelsey comes from Piedmont Hills HS in San Jose where she is the president for her CSF chapter. She helps others through a Christmas carnival, a pirate pancake parade breakfast, a canned food drive and with March of dimes. She is also the ASB-VP, the varsity water polo captain and swim captain. Her love of volunteering is when she is at sacred heart, being with the jazz choir and helping with the "Academically Better Children's club." Kelsey is a celebrity appearing on NBC and CBS representing Eastside union HS as part of the "Harnessing the sun to support our schools" program. Ms. Kennett, her CSF advisor, shares that "Kelsey is able to lead and motivate without promoting any ill-will among her peers. It is difficult to find opportunities for the large group at the home of the Pirates, but Kelsey finds them to share with the rest of the club. Ms. Anderson, Kelsey's coach, says that "every activity in which Kelsey involves herself turns to gold. She is the epitome of the words dedication and honor." Kelsey shared in her personal statement that she is the president of one of the most prestigious clubs on campus; this is what originally attracted me to CSF.
She feels that she walked into CSF as a follower and came out a leader. She says that "this is My club, not CSF, the club." I have no doubt that as Kelsey goes into marketing/business administration that she will be successful at her #1 college of choice which is USC.
