Maral Sakayan, 2012 Seymour Award Finalist
This CSF President, with the help of her local chapter has worked closely with the Rainbow Promise Christian Preschool program supervising children, planning lessons and assisting with recital preparations. The chapter has also volunteered for Help the Children Food pantry and the City of Santa Clarita Education Foundation's Read with Me Program as well as volunteering for Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. Outside of CSF Maral has served as President of the College of the Canyons Honor Club and served as vice President of the National Honor Society, Executive Vice President of the College of the Canyons Gamma Beta Phi society and Vice President of Leadership for the College of the Canyons Phi Theta Kappa Society. Maral is also the Co-Founder and Vice President of the Compassion International Club.
Maral has earned the Canyon High School Academic Award all four years, received the Golden Spur Award in Foreign Language and was awarded the Most Dedicated 11th Grade AVID Student. She has also received the Society of Women Engineers LA Section Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science. The College of the Canyons Honor Club has chosen Maral for the Distinguished Member Award and Phi Theta Kappa has placed her on the All-California Academic Team.
With proud dual Armenian and American identities, Maral explains that my determination and well-roundedness will lead me to my final goal of becoming a physician. She will begin this next step in the fall at UCLA.
