Tanner is the second Seymour finalist from Chapter 661 at Bella Vista High School in Fair Oaks. Jane Yost sites that Tanner's personal attributes are sincerity, honesty and optimism. "He is an upstanding young man with much to give and the strength and perseverance to fulfill his purpose."

Tanner considers himself an eclectic individual who is interested in theater, swimming, academics, and a social life. He plans on becoming one of the greatest biomedical engineers of his time by attending California Polytechnic at San Luis Obispo and eventually, Stanford University.
