Oroville High School in Oroville, CSF Chapter 143, is home to Yer Vang. According to CSF advisor, Scott Gianinni, Yer is an excellent role model who leads by example. Indeed, this young woman sees herself as a positive role model in her family and in her community.
Terri L. Brown, the Upward Bound Program Advisor at California State University at Chico, says, "Yer is an exceptional student who demonstrates the resources and ability to interact well within an ethnically diverse group."
Yer's values of hard work and perseverance and her determination to overcome overwhelming odds to stay at the top of her class and prepare for her future, will be the driving force for her to accomplish her goal of continuing her education at California State University at Chico and someday becoming an obstetrician gynecologist.
